Pluto is host to a wide assortment of light-bearing wildlife. They are assumed to be the descendants of bioluminescent plants and animals, but this does not fully explain the source of their light.

GENUS: BULB CACTUS
SPECIES: Wire bulb cactus
This species has wires that run deep underground. The visible cactus are rumored to be parts of a larger computer. The plant’s thick skin is as hard as steel.
Among all bulb cactus, the bulbs (like flowers) are produced as part of the cactus’ reproductive cycle. When fully developed, the bulb will produce a steady light. Plutonians call this a bloom. Eventually, the bulb will fall off the cactus, marking the end of the bloom.
These bright blooms are very useful landmarks for travelers, so in order to preserve them, they are kept healthy by the desert Plutonians.
TYPE: BUG
GENUS: A cross between a butterfly and a firefly.
These insects are weak and rely on Plutonians to breed them. They are held at a Sanctuary, in the North Lighthouse. They enjoy sunflower pollen from the garden there.
Butterflies are fed to the four great Lumin at the lighthouses. Only a few Lumin are predatory in nature. This include Anglerfish.
Ferryman often have their own lumins to navigate the dark with.
TYPE: Whale
GENUS: Some sort of ancient technology makes this Lumin run. It seems to have existed before the Great Eclipse of Pluto. Angelfish, in a great tank, are kept at the top of the lighthouse. They are fed to the whale when it begins to get tired.
A type of Plutonian that helps lead people through the dangerous desert. They are Lumin experts.

Found in forests and have taken over these biomes. If they sense motion, they’ll light up.

HISTORICAL:
Four nations rule the lands of the Five Temperaments: Phlegmatic, Choleric, Melancholy, Sanguine, and Supine.
LOCATION: NORTH STAR
The stone hands were carved as tribute to the creator of the Lumin. It’s said that Lumin were born from the two hands of God, in order to save the people of Pluto.
HISTORICAL: Some groups of Plutonians carry the belief that the Lumin are the children of the Sun. The Sun had died but sent the Lumins down to Pluto in order to save them all.
HISTORICAL:
Ferrymen, they take Plutonians across the various nations. They collect butterflies as payment and take them to their garden sanctuary.
Rather than pay the toll, many Plutonians choose to travel across great bridges built by their ancestors.

Plutonians remember the people left in the darkness too long, the ones who have gone blind.
Afflicted are known as the Coldhearted. Disease sets in once a Plutonian spends too much time in the darkness. They slowly go blind. As the disease progresses, they also become icy to the touch.
