Citizens eat a variety of mushrooms to restore beauty and extend life. These people are very long lived.
In exchange, they play host to a parasitic fungi. The mycelium lives in the body, only parts of it visible when fruiting mushrooms.
The people remove these mushrooms and used them as commercial products. There is a robust market for mushrooms.
